ConynghamHistoricalSocietywebsitePrecision Design launched a new and improved website for the Conyngham Valley Historical Society featuring images of artifacts located in their museum, a calendar of upcoming events and information about how to become a member or make a donation to the museum. The new mobile-responsive website, which was created by Hazleton advertising, marketing and web design agency Precision Design, can be found at www.conynghamhistoricalsociety.org.

The homepage features a rotating photo display that includes images of some of the Conyngham Valley’s most historical buildings, an iconic black-and-white image of Conyngham’s Main Street at a time when it was still a dirt road and a link to read more about the founding of the Conyngham Valley Historical Society, which celebrated its 13th anniversary of the grand opening of the Conyngham Valley Historical Society Museum in July.

The museum, which is located at 470 Main Street in Conyngham, the site of the former IOOF, Lodge 308, is free and open to the public every Saturday from 1-4 p.m. The section dedicated to the museum has a rotating photo gallery that features a few of the many exhibits and artifacts that are on display at the museum.

The website also includes a brief history of Conyngham and more historical photos of the Conyngham Valley. Although Conyngham was first incorporated as a borough in 1901, the town’s history can be traced back to 1769 when settlers applied for the first land patent in the valley. Since that time, the tiny town once called Venison Market has grown into the vibrant and bustling borough with more than 1,900 residents that we see today.

On the Membership and Donation page, anyone who is interested in becoming a member of the Conyngham Valley Historical Society can download a membership form, which can be filled out and mailed in with the appropriate membership fee. Membership is just $15 per year for a single membership or $25 per year for a family membership. A lifetime membership option for a one-time fee of $1,000 is also available. There is also a form to download if anyone has an artifact they would like to donate to the museum.

The Conyngham Valley Historical Society welcomes all members who want to be a part of the proud history of Conyngham and the entire Valley area. Memberships run from July 1 to June 30 of the following year and benefits include: actively participating in historical presentations throughout the year, if desired; exclusive access to the quarterly newsletter, and the ability to volunteer at the museum and special events throughout the year.

The Calendar of Events offers information on the Conyngham Valley Historical Society’s monthly meetings, which are held at the Conyngham Borough Municipal Building at 215 S. Main Street, as well as upcoming community events which currently includes Halloween at the Cemetery, a Veteran’s Day program and the Christmas Holiday House Tour.

The Conyngham Valley Historical Society is under the direction of President Joseph Wolfe, Vice President Martin Zybura, Secretary Debbie Boyle and Treasurer Jane Burns. Directors include Chairperson Carol Tomkiewicz, JoAnn Brown, Betsy Snyder, Maureen Susa, Ron Wolfe and Nancy Yost.
